Command & Conquer - Covert Operations Subject: How to play Custom Levels Author: Erwin (madcat22@aol.com) How to play Custom Level without patching the Game. You need to have Version 1.20 of C&C which is the Covert Operations. Version 1.20 add a NEW MISSION Menu at the Main Screen. Now you need to do some editing in your INI. With these method, you don't have to run your GENERAL.MIX in your Hard Drive, and you don't have to edit the GAME.DAT. You only have to copy GENERAL.MIX to your Hard Drive IF you are going to extract or edit a Scenario from GENERAL.MIX for faster access. First step Under [BASIC] [BASIC] BuildLevel=XX Name=Mission Name Brief=Video Clip Briefing Intro=Video Clip Action=Video Clip Win=Video Clip Los=Video Clip BuildLevel= XX = Specify which level of Technology you can build, same as in Multiplayer. Available values are from 1 to 99. (98, 99 you can build Commando, SSM, Chemical Warriors and others which in the first versions it was only available during Mulitplayer. Now you can build them in Single Player if you have all the requirements needed. Name= Mission Name = Your Mission Name Note: If you don't have this line in your [BASIC] add it, otherwise it will show X in NEW MISSION list. This is a MUST! Brief= This is the Video Clip for Briefing, if it contain a Video Clip change it to x. Example: Brief=GDI15 (Video Clip Briefing for level 15 of GDI) change it to Brief=x Intro=, Action=, Win= and Lose= This is where you put all the movie clips, if you want them to be played before and after the mission. If you don't want any Movie to be played just put x after =. There is a Complete Listing of Movie Fragments available on most of the WWW site for Command & Conquer. The filename is MOVIE.TXT. Thanks to Hans Nelisse (hneel@zeelandnet.nl) for creating the List. You can obtain this at the Temple of the Conquerer: http://www.econ.cbs.dk/people/dszcpfk/cc.html There are other site that carry this file. Second Step - Add A section called [Briefing] [Briefing] 1= 2= 3= 4= This is where you put the briefing for your mission. It will pop up as soon as the movie clips(if you have added) end/stop playing before the mission. This is the same format as the MISSION.INI. You can have 1= to 3= lines or up to 4= lines. Each line must not exceed 76 Characters. That's it for the INI. Now for File naming.. We need to tell which side the Mission is designed for GDI, NOD or Multi. SCG??EA = GDI SCB??EA = NOD SCM??EA = Multiplayer ??=Mission Number Here are the list of all available numbers that you can use: GDI Side SCG1 to SCG15 -> Used by GDI Original Disc 1 SCG16EA to SCG19EA -> Don't work SCG20EA AND SCG21EA -> Available SCG22EA -> Used by Covert SCG23EA -> Used by Covert SCG24EA TO SCG35EA -> Available SCG36EA -> Used by Covert SCG37EA -> Available SCG38EA -> Used by Covert SCG39EA -> Available SCG40EA -> Used by Covert SCG41EA -> Used by Covert SCG42EA to SCG49EA -> Available SCG50EA -> Used by Covert SCG51EA to SCG99EA -> Available NOD Side SCB1 to SCB13 -> Used by NOD Original Disc 2 SCB14EA to SCB19EA -> Don't Work SCB20EA -> Used by Covert SCB21EA -> Used by Covert SCB22EA TO SCB29EA -> Available SCB30EA -> Used by Covert SCB31EA -> Used by Covert SCB32EA -> Used by Covert SCB33EA -> Used by Covert SCB34EA -> Available SCB35EA -> Used by Covert SCB36EA -> Available SCB37EA -> Used by Covert SCB38EA to SCB99EA -> Available You must have the INI and the MAP, then rename the MAP to BIN. Note: You can still use the filename that are used by the Original and Covert, it will just override them. If you want a Campaign use 1 to 15 for GDI and 1 to 13 for Nod, Remember that their last 2 characters in the filename EA, EB, EC, WA, WB must be the same as from the Original Mission. In the NEW MISSION Menu the EA will be the only one that will be displayed in the list. In the NEW MISSION list your mission will be displayed like this: Example: GDI Custom Level Distribution: You must have the following files; README.TXT -> Information for the mission and on how to install them. INI and BIN (the MAP) -> Scenario Files.
