Levels were tested on:
- Pentium 90 with 16Mb of RAM, 256K of cache, and a PCI SVGA vid card with 1Mb of DRAM running at 320 X 400
- Pentium 133, 256K Pipeline Burst, 24Mb EDO RAM, MGA Mystique with 4Mb of SGRAM running at 800 X 600
- 486 DX4/100, 10Mb of RAM, 256K of cache, ISA vid card with 512k of RAM
running at 320 X 200 (oh so slowly)
All three machines ran the game under DOS, not a MS-DOS BOX in Windows95.
Multiplayer games were played over a 3 PC LAN, over the modem, on
TEN once in awhile, and sometimes against the PC controlled AI players.
DN3D level design criteria are:
- The level should be big enough for 8 players
- There are enough weapons to go around
- There is little or no eye candy to eat frames
- A level should be one player capable
- The level should play fast (20 fps minimum) on a fast 486 or slow Pentium. A level that runs slow on a Pentium 90 is unacceptable.
